Press release
Brussels, May 16, 2024
Belfius Bank is committed to helping its customers find more sustainable mobility solutions. In recent years, Belfius has extended its mobility offer with bicycle leasing and charging solutions combined with electric car leasing. To achieve this, Belfius has invested in various partnerships such as Cyclis Bike Lease, Skipr and CenEnergy. Now, Belfius is going one step further by investing in the accelerated deployment of on-site charging stations throughout Belgium.
Today, Belfius already offers home charging solutions via Belfius Auto Lease as part of its employee benefits. It is now going one step further by also offering charging solutions for businesses and and public customers. In concrete terms, these involve charging stations in company parking lots, industrial and commercial sites and public land. These "CenEnergy by Belfius" on-site recharging solutions will be presented today at the Mobility Tomorrow conference in Brussels.
The customer can choose to give access to the charging stations to employees, visitors, customers or the general public. Belfius also contributes to the development of (semi-)public infrastructures for citizens who are unable or unwilling to install home recharging solutions, such as residents of urban areas or tenants.
CenEnergy offers a complete range of services, from in-house development and production of charging stations, to advice and project support, management of charging infrastructures and the supply of charging cards giving access to over 500,000 charging stations in Europe. Belfius can also offer financing via its wide range of financing solutions.
CenEnergy has already proven its expertise in on-site charging solutions. CenEnergy has equipped the parking lots of companies such as Belfius, PwC and PKF BOFIDI. CenEnergy also provides appropriate charging solutions for numerous hospitals, mutual insurance companies and car dealerships.
With this launch of on-site charging infrastructure and the recent launch of energy shares, Belfius is putting itself on the map as a strong player in mobility and energy solutions. Energy Sharing is an innovative solution on the Belgian market to assist local authorities, hospitals, schools, universities, etc. to create energy communities and organize energy sharing. CenEnergy's on-site charging infrastructure can be perfectly integrated into this.
Dirk Gyselinck, Executive Director Wealth, Enterprises & Public at Belfius Bank: "It is estimated that there could be almost 2 million electric cars in Belgium by 2030, which means that a rapid expansion of the (semi)public charging infrastructure is needed.
With this new service, Belfius is taking further concrete steps to help reduce Belgium's carbon footprint. We therefore want to take a pioneering role in the necessary transition to sustainable, multimodal and future-proof mobility, which, incidentally, fits in perfectly with our ESG objectives."
Sofie De Loecker, CenEnergy CEO: "CenEnergy is eager to make its expertise and premium charging equipment available to Belfius Bank's corporate and public clients. Guiding them throughout the project and equipping their car parks and grounds with the appropriate charging infrastructure, whether AC or DC fast chargers, is what drives CenEnergy's teams every day."
